AN ANALYSIS OF MULTIMEDIA LITERACY PROGRAMMES IN SELECTED UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES IN KWAZULU-NATAL (STUDENT SURVEY)

Dear Postgraduate students,

My name is S’fiso Mbusi Sibiya, I am a Masters Candidate registered for the programme Masters in Information Science, at the University of Zululand.

You are invited to participate in a study which seeks assist academic libraries in the province of KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa at large in improving and reorganizing their procedures and services while formulating effective measures related to digital/multimedia literacy.

The research aims to:

  1. To identify available multimedia literacy programmes in selected academic libraries
  2. To ascertain resources supporting the provision of multimedia literacy programmes in selected academic libraries.  
  3. To find out the digital literacy competencies of the librarians           
  4. To establish the challenges facing academic libraries in the provision of multimedia literacy programmes.

Research participant criteria

All students (males and females of all races) currently enrolled for any Postgraduate Studies in any field of study (e.g. Advanced Dip in TVET, PGCE, PGHE, Honours, Masters, and PhD).

Study Procedure

If you agree to participate in this study, you will be asked to:
1. Complete an anonymous online survey that will take approximately 5-7 minutes (Postgraduate students only).

This study has been granted external ethical review and approval by the UKZN Research Ethics Committee and University of Zululand Research Ethics Committee- Ethical Clearance Ref No: UZ-REC 0691-008

Will I still be able to read my Notices from within my email?

In a manner of speaking yes. However you will not get the entire notice delivered to you in your email, instead you will get a daily digest which will list the subject of the notices, a short summary of each notice and hyperlinks that will take you to that notice on the web.

2. Who has access to notices?


Anybody can access the notice system, however you will not be able to place notices from off-campus.
