Stand a chance to win a R500 Takealot Voucher: Psychological Needs as Predictors of Well-Being
Print

Dear Students,

My name is Warren Saxby, and I am a Master’s student in the Department of Industrial Psychology at Stellenbosch University. I am currently conducting research for my Master’s thesis which focuses on psychological needs in South Africa under the supervision of Professor Gina Görgens-Ekermans.

Psychological needs are essential qualities of experience that are crucial for everyone's well-being. These needs, such as self-esteem, must be fulfilled for individuals to thrive. This study aims to identify which psychological needs, out of a set of 11, are most critical for well-being in South Africa.

If you are a student at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, I would like to invite you to participate in my study entitled, “Psychological Needs as Predictors of Well-Being: Which Needs are Important in The South African Environment?”. This study has been approved by the Research Ethics Committee: Social, Behavioural and Education Research at Stellenbosch University (Project ID#: 27320)

Research participant criteria:

  • You must be an enrolled student at UKZN,
  • You must be above the age of 18
  • You can be from any, faculty, level of study, gender, age, race etc.

If you volunteer for this study, you will be asked to complete a few short online questionnaires about psychological needs, satisfying events, emotions, and personality. The questionnaires use tick-box responses, so no typing is required. You can complete the survey at your convenience from a computer or mobile device, and it should take about 25 - 30 minutes to complete.

As a token of appreciation, two Takealot vouchers worth R500 each will be awarded to participants via a lucky draw. You may choose to enter your contact details (phone number) in a separate survey after completing the initial data-collection survey. Your contact details will remain separate from your anonymous survey responses, and phone numbers will be deleted after the winners are announced.

To participate in the anonymous survey, please click here to view the survey, which will begin with an informed consent page.

If the Link above doesn’t work, you can alternatively enter the link below into your browser:
