The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music proudly presents Pat Zondi and the Mpolompolo band on Wednesday 13 September 2023 at 17:30.

 

South Africa celebrates Heritage month in September with an amazing line up. Pat Zondi and Mpolompolo with will play a fusion of Afro Pop, and traditional maskandi styles, with a touch of afro jazzy vibes. The repertoire comprises of mostly original compositions and covers that include old time township jazz and mbhaqanga hits.

 

Pat Zondi started writing and reciting poetry in community groups in the late 80s. In 1992 he attended an Audio Producers Course at the then University of Natal in Durban.

In 2001 he recorded his first album called ‘Buya’, which was followed by ‘Nondaba’ in 2006. Recorded an album called ‘Isimanga sothando’ which was released in 2010.

 

Pat Zondi on Lead vocals and Piano Accordion, Nhlanhla Zondi (of Abahambayo) on Acoustic Guitar and Vocals, Malusi Ndlovu (founder and leader of an arts and development organization ‘Vusani Isizwe Mawundlu’ based at Ntuzuma) home on Djembe, Conga and Vocals and Bheki Khalala ( who has toured around Mfiliseni Magubane , Busi Mhlongo and Maqhinga) on Acoustic Guitar.

2. Who has access to notices?


Anybody can access the notice system, however you will not be able to place notices from off-campus.
