Online Depression Screening for youth aged 19-29
Dear All,
I wish to extend an
invitation for you to get screened for depression if you feel like you've had
prolonged feelings of hopelessness, and lack of interest in activities that you
used to enjoy over the last two weeks or more. You may also take the screener
if you feel you have been undergoing prolonged sadness and emotional
discomfort.
We have launched a
project titled You Are Not Alone (YANA) depression awareness project in
partnership with the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) and
Lifeline Pietermaritzburg. After you get screened and if you are identified as
being at risk of moderate to severe depression, you will be referred to counselling
or you may request a call back and one of our counsellors will contacted you
from SADAG or Lifeline.
The screening has to
be taken online (link below), and your results will be presented to you
immediately.
The project has two
facets, (1) it is a research study to pre-screen young people for possible
diagnosed depression. And this research study is called, "An online
Depression Screening and Awareness study to identify undiagnosed depression
cases amongst Young Adults aged 18-29 in KwaZulu-Natal." (2) It is also a
depression awareness project to break the stigma about depression and anxiety and
to encourage young people between the ages of 18-29 to get screened for
depression and seek professional counselling.
The ethics approval
number is 00009738. All information regarding the project will be find on
www.notalone.org.za. This includes researcher details, the consent form, and
questionnaire
The consent form and the questionnaire must be
completed online.
Please visit www.notalone.org.za.
Kind regards
