RESIDENCE ASSISTANTS
– 2021

Medical School residence students are
invited to apply for a one-year performance-based contract post of Residence Assistants
in the Department of Student Residence Affairs for 2021
Academic year.
NB: RAs who have served for 2 years and more are NOT eligible to
apply.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
l Applicants must be UKZN students,
registered for their 5th YEAR MBChB
degree in 2021. This means you must be registered for your 5th year
MBChB this year.
l Applicants must not be employed full-time
on or off campus.
(To
be specified in the cover letter).
l Applicants must have resided in the UKZN residence
for the past 2 consecutive years (2018/2019). With the residence name clearly specified.
l Applicants must disclose their internship program or in-service
training for 2018, which must be within the campus. OUT
l
Applicants
must have traceable experience in holistic student development and voluntary
service to residence communities.
l
Applicants
must have demonstrated good behavior and conduct in the residence.
l
Applicants with previous and
pending disciplinary records are not eligible to apply.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES WILL INCLUDE
l Assist Residence Administrators with
Admissions.
l Implementation of Residence Rules.
l Active participation, initiation and implementation
of Residence Life Programmes.
l Execution of fire drills and emergency
evacuation procedures and provide assistance to students during medical
emergencies.
l Assist Residence Life Officers with
conducting House Committee Elections.
l Provision of mentorship and support to
residence students.
l Attendance of designated residence and
liaison departmental meetings.
Successful
incumbents will be required to sign a performance contract, as part of the
conditions of this post.
REMUNERATION
PACKAGE
Successful candidates shall be offered a fixed monthly
meal allowance of R1609.50, plus partially
furnished accommodation.
