The Centre for Extended Legal Studies in the School of Law seeks to appoint a suitably qualified applicant on a one-year fixed-term contract as Deputy Programme Manager: Part-time LLB (Pietermaritzburg), on a part-time basis (10 hours per month):

 

The incumbent will be responsible for assisting the Part-time LLB Programme Manager with the management and administration of the part-time LLB programme on the Pietermaritzburg Campus. This will include the drafting of lecture timetables, securing lecture venues, identifying and recommending suitable lecturers, assisting with student registration and academic counselling, addressing student queries and complaints, and providing information for budgetary and reporting purposes. S/he will also be required to attend academic staff meetings in the School of Law.     

The incumbent will report to the Part-time LLB Programme Manager and will be based on the Pietermaritzburg campus.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

·     An LLM or equivalent Master’s degree;

·   A minimum of one year’s experience in academic programme management and student administration within the School of Law.

 

All candidates should demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.

The appointment will be effective from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2019. The remuneration will be in accordance with the University’s fixed-term appointment rates and the hours of work.
