The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music is proud to present a Jazz vocalist from Pietermaritzburg; Thobeka Langa on Wednesday 06 August 2014 at 18:00.

Thobeka developed her love for music at a very young age and started singing at grass roots level with a community gospel group called Change in PMB. She later enrolled for her studies in Performing Arts at the Mbongeni Ngema Academy. After completing her Matric, she further pursued her music studies the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN).

Thobeka Langa completed her BPrac MUS degree from UKZN earning a merit in performance. In her final year of study, she was a part of the group of students selected to represent the University Of KwaZulu Natal School Of Arts at the Virginia Common Wealth University (Virginia, Richmond) for an ongoing Music Exchange Program.

Her other achievements include being offered a scholarship to study towards her Master’s Degree at the North Carolina Central University.

Join Thobeka Langa (vocals) and her band Ndumiso Ndlovu (piano), Ildo Nandja (contra bass), Njabulo Shabalala (percussions), Devon Hore (drums), Delani Mbokazi (sax), and Thabang Mavimbela (sax) as they present some of her compositions, and her favourite jazz standards at the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music (CJPM) Level 2, Shepstone Building. UKZN Howard College Campus on Wednesday 06 August 2014. Doors open at 17:30 and music starts at 18:00. Entry fee is R40 (Pensioners R20 and students R15). In a manner of speaking yes. However you will not get the entire notice delivered to you in your email, instead you will get a daily digest which will list the subject of the notices, a short summary of each notice and hyperlinks that will take you to that notice on the web.

Anybody can access the notice system, however you will not be able to place notices from off-campus.
