The Songbook Session departures from its regular Venue at UKZN Jazzcentre. The 06th and 27th will be hosted by the beautiful Bean Bag Jazz Lounge. The 06th Led by dynamic vocalist Thembalethu Bhengu


For audiences and musicians alike, The Songbook Sessions offers a vibrant platform for collaboration, learning, and musical exploration—continuing its mission to cultivate community through live performance and shared repertoire.


 

The Songbook Sessions Monday night jam session is made possible through the generous funding support of Concerts SA, Festival Enterprise Catalyst, SAMRO, and the National Treasury Jobs Fund.


Thembalethu Bhengu is a passionate young jazz vocalist who completed her degree at UKZN. Hailing from Pretoria, with roots in Umlazi, Durban, Thembalethu brings a rich blend of cultural influences to her music.


Her musical journey began in primary school choirs, eventually leading her to compete nationally and internationally with her high school choir. Known for her soulful voice and captivating ballads, she draws inspiration from a diverse range of legends, including Sibongile Khumalo, Betty Carter, Simphiwe Dana, Nomfundo Xaluva and Nancy Wilson, to name a few. Her talent has already earned her recognition as a two-time National Youth Jazz Band finalist and a semi-finalist in the prestigious 2025 UNISA Voice Competition.

In a manner of speaking yes. However you will not get the entire notice delivered to you in your email, instead you will get a daily digest which will list the subject of the notices, a short summary of each notice and hyperlinks that will take you to that notice on the web.
