GROW - New DAAD Programme: Research Stays and Cooperation with Germany (2026)
We would like to inform you of an upcoming programme funded by the German Academic Exchange Service, with financial support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
The programme supports short term research stays in Germany as well as initiation and cooperation visits, with the aim of strengthening international academic collaboration and advancing research with clear development relevance. It is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and addresses global challenges in areas such as climate, health, education, governance, and innovation. The programme is open to:
- Doctoral candidates
- Postdoctoral researchers
- Academic staff and experienced researchers
Applicants should be based at higher education institutions or research institutes in countries on the OECD DAC list, with a focus on Sub Saharan Africa, as well as Latin America and Asia. The programme offers two components:
- Cooperation visits of one to two months to establish or expand research collaborations
- Research stays of two to six months to conduct an independent research project in Germany
Funding includes:
- A monthly stipend ranging from 1,400 Euro to 2,150 Euro depending on career stage
- A travel allowance
- Health, accident, and liability insurance
The programme aims to strengthen academic, methodological, and analytical competencies, expand international networks, and support long term knowledge transfer to home institutions. Further information is available here:
