The Writing Place for the School of Law assists undergraduate Law students with:

  •      Law problem type questions/assignments
  •      FIRAC technique
  •      Analysing case law skills
  •      Referencing using Law footnote method - please ensure that you have accessed the Law footnote and bibliography guide before your consultation - available on the UKZN Library website.
  •     Any other related legal writing skills the student requires help with.

Consultation Times: 

TUESDAY – 09h00 to 12h00         WEDNESDAY – 08h00 to 12h00   THURSDAY – 08h00 to 11h00

Undergraduate students (1st – 4th year) from the School of Law should take a complete draft of their assignment and the assignment question/guideline to the Writing Place Tutor at least THREE WORKING DAYS before the due date, during consultation times only. Feedback on your assignment will be provided during the consultation and you are welcome to follow up with the tutor for further clarification or assistance. Please email the tutor to confirm availability and arrange an appointment during consultation times.

Will I still be able to read my Notices from within my email?

In a manner of speaking yes. However you will not get the entire notice delivered to you in your email, instead you will get a daily digest which will list the subject of the notices, a short summary of each notice and hyperlinks that will take you to that notice on the web.

2. Who has access to notices?


Anybody can access the notice system, however you will need to login in order to place a notice.
