Dear Colleagues,

The University Language Planning and Development Office (ULPDO) invites applications for the 2026 Internship Programme (5 positions available).

The internship offers postgraduate students' valuable exposure to the operations of the Language Office and the broader language services sector at provincial, national, and international levels. Interns will receive structured supervision, training, and professional development opportunities.

Eligible applicants must:

  • Have completed IsiZulu or English studies up to Honours level
  • Be currently enrolled for a master's degree in Linguistics, African Languages, or English
  • Have a background in one or more of the following areas:
    • Research / Bilingual Pedagogy / Language Planning and/or Development
    • Lexicography / Terminology Development / Translation / Interpreting / Editing / Literature
    • Corpus Linguistics / Computational Linguistics / Human Language Technologies
    • Administration

Will I still be able to read my Notices from within my email?

In a manner of speaking yes. However you will not get the entire notice delivered to you in your email, instead you will get a daily digest which will list the subject of the notices, a short summary of each notice and hyperlinks that will take you to that notice on the web.

2. Who has access to notices?


Anybody can access the notice system, however you will need to login in order to place a notice.
