Founded in
1910 as the Natal University College in Pietermaritzburg, the University of
Natal was granted independent university status in 1949 owing to its rapid

distinctive Howard College building was opened in 1931. The University of
KwaZulu- Natal (UKZN) is one of the largest,
oldest, and most transformed universities in sub-Saharan
Africa – a teaching and research-led
university. The UKZN has an international reputation for academic excellence, outstanding research output, and African scholarship.
The Centre of Radio Access and Rural
Communications Technologies (CRART) at UKZN is a training, research,
consultancy and information resource Centre for the telecommunications in
Southern Africa that conducts research on problems related to subscriber
services, teletraffic aspects and access networks. Emphasis is placed on
investigating new or alternative ways of providing telecommunications services
either through legacy or contemporary networks. The center is involved in
advancing or developing new communication technologies as applied in diverse
fields including antennas and wave propagation. The successful candidate for
this position will be involved in the investigation of 5G communication systems
specially development and investigation of antennas and/or path loss models for
5G communications.
Duration and Salary:
The post-doctoral fellowship is for 12
months (extendable for one more year based upon the candidate’s
performance), worth R220 000 (two-hundred and twenty thousand rands) per annum.
Minimum Requirements:

Doctoral
degree (PhD) in Electronic
Engineering/Communication Engineering or any related area should be completed
within the past five years.
· An adequate number of publications in the relevant
area of expertise.
