Ad Hoc Lecturer (Digital Art)

The Discipline of Digital Arts seeks to appoint a Lecturer on a five-month contract. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within the Digital Arts programme, across theoretical and practice-based modules. Applicants should demonstrate a strong grounding in Digital Arts theory as well as proficiency in digital image-making and production practices.

 

Minimum Requirements:

• A Master’s degree in Digital Arts or a closely related discipline

• A minimum of one year of tertiary-level teaching or tutoring experience in Digital Arts (or a related discipline) across both theory and practice-based modules

• Strong theoretical grounding in Digital Arts or a related field

• Experience in postgraduate supervision at Honours level

 

Skills and Knowledge Requirements (Essential):

• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premiere Pro, Illustrator and Photoshop

• Competence in digital cinema production workflows, including editing

• Ability to teach theoretical content in Animation Studies and Film Studies

• Broad understanding of Digital Arts history and theory — from early pre-digital practices to contemporary post-digital technologies and critical approaches

REMUNERATION: The remuneration offered will be in accordance with UKZN fixed-term rates of pay.
