This fixed-term position will require the successful candidate to
engage with Prof Moherndran Archary’s research team in the Department of
Paediatrics and Child Health at the UKZN Medical School.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

MBChB
·
Current HPCSA registration
·
Must have completed an
internship and community service, and be registered as an independent medical
practitioner with the HPCSA at the time of application
·
Preferred >1 year
post-community service
·
Research experience as a
clinician preferred
·
Current Good Clinical Practice
(GCP) Certificate
·
Good knowledge and experience
in the management of HIV and TB
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
·
Demonstrable experience in
working with children and adolescents living with HIV and TB
·
Demonstrable experience using
the NHLS system
·
Demonstrable experience working
within the DoH and public health setting
·
HIV diploma/ Masters in public
health or equivalent public health degree
·
MPS registration
·
Fluency in English, basic
proficiency in isiZulu, is advantageous
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· ·
Recruit and assess the
eligibility of potential participants from the Paeds Ward, Victoria Mxenge
Hospital, per the protocol's inclusion and exclusion criteria.
· ·
Ensure that potential
participants and their carers are sufficiently informed about the study's risks
and benefits so that they can make an informed decision to enrol.
· ·
Ensure the best clinical care
of all participants at each study visit – including thorough history taking,
clinical examination, conducting of investigations (e.g. phlebotomy) and
prescribed treatment.
· ·
Request advice for complicated
cases from line manager when relevant
· ·
Ensure that all case report
forms (CRFs) are completed timeously
· ·
Ensure that hospital/ clinical
records remain updated
· ·
Ensure that the correct
treatment is prescribed for participants per study protocol and clinical needs.
· ·
Ensure that blood/investigation
results are reviewed, graded, and acted upon timeously.
· ·
Ensure the urgent, thorough and
timeous reporting of adverse and serious adverse events of study participants.
· ·
Ensure the smooth working of
the team through good communication and teamwork.
· ·
Carry out any other duties as
directed by the Principal Investigator.
