Dear Academics, Teaching and Learning staff and students
I trust that this message finds you well. My name is Lwandile Pungwa, and I am a Master’s student at the University of Zululand.
You are being invited to consider participating in a study that involves research titled "The Adoption of Artificial Intelligence as a Teaching and Learning Tool at Selected South African Universities." The aim and purpose of this research are to determine how the adoption of artificial intelligence for teaching and learning has progressed in South African higher educational institutions. It specifically seeks to understand the adoption of AI by academics, teaching and learning staff and students, their experiences and perspectives regarding these tools. The study is expected to enroll 10 participants (5 students and 5 made up of academics and teaching and learning staff) from the Howard Campus's College of Humanities.
This study will involve semi-structured interviews physically and online (Ms Teams).
Participants' criteria:
- Academics who have adopted AI in their teaching practices
- Teaching and learning staff involved in the teaching and learning management section, such as providing AI support (training and policies) to academics and students
- Students, both undergraduates and postgraduates, who use AI tools in their learning process
Everyone who meets the above criteria, regardless of their age, skin colour, sex, etc., is welcome to participate in this study.
