The UKZN Centre for Jazz and Popular Music in collaboration with the Music Imbizo proudly presents Nomfundo Xaluva on Wednesday 27 August 2025 at 17:30

 

Xaluva is a critically acclaimed South African jazz vocalist, pianist, composer, and academic whose work bridges the worlds of jazz, soul, and African musical heritage. A graduate of the University of Cape Town’s College of Music, Nomfundo has earned recognition for her sophisticated artistry, thought-provoking compositions, and emotive performances that explore themes of identity, womanhood, and heritage.

Her debut album Kusile 2012 and follow up From.Now.On- 2015 garnered awards and nominations, establishing her as one of the most important voices in contemporary South African jazz. Her 3rd studio album titled 
Ndilaphawas released independently in September 2024 and won the prestigious National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences Award for Best Composition/Arrangement .
