The School of Arts invites all interested theatre technicians to apply for a  contract post in the above-mentioned position at the University of KwaZulu Natal’s Hexagon Theatre in Scottsville, Pietermaritzburg. The applicant must have experience in theatre production technical work (lighting and sound) and be willing to work collaboratively within a multi-team environment that includes academics, student theatre-makers, independent theatre producers/event managers, and researchers. The candidate should be willing to regularly contribute to the Drama & Performance Studies teaching and learning programme by mentoring, supervising or teaching theatre technical theatre skills to students, where required.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

§  Relevant qualification in theatre stage and sound technology.

§  3 years of experience in theatre technician work (festivals, productions, stage events)

§  Evidence of knowledge regarding theatre and stage safety protocols, standards of theatre safety compliance, occupational health and theatre environment safety legislation.

§  Candidate must be able to start immediately.

§  Candidate must have access to reliable transportation in the evenings.

REMUNERATION: The remuneration offered will be in accordance with UKZN fixed-term rates of pay.
