ADDITIONAL
TRAINING FOR LINE MANAGERS ON STAFF DISABILITY CLAIMS MANAGEMENT
Dear Line Managers
Human
Resources (HR) with Alexander Forbes have scheduled online training sessions on staff
disability claims management for all Line Managers.
The aim of the training sessions are:

To ensure effective and early
management of disability claims.
·
To help managers to manage their
employees affected by medical challenges fairly and equitably.
·
To create awareness on when to notify
HR of a disability claim.
·
To prevent consequence of late
notifications ( e.g.: employees may not be paid a salary and the impact of
prolonged absence from work on the department bottom line).
·
Early management of the incapacitated
employee to support the recovery and rehabilitation, to enable a successful
return to work in certain cases.
The
training will cover the following aspects:
·
Roles
and responsibilities of all stakeholders.
·
Definitions
& Policy aspects.
·
Process.
·
General
guidelines.
·
Case
studies.
Line Managers must be aware of the
disability process that should be followed when potential disabilities are
suspected, in order to prevent risks to the employer. Therefore,
attendance of all line managers is imperative and compulsory to ensure
timeous management of claims, and to prevent negative consequences due to
late notifications and submission of incorrect/incomplete documents.
