the Abe Bailey Travel Bursary for 2025.
The Trustees of the Abe Bailey Trust are calling for
applications for the annual travel bursary to the United Kingdom which is
available for a suitable student or a member
of staff of Junior Lecturer status.
The focus of the Abe Bailey Trust is leadership development
and the Trustees wish the bursaries to be awarded to persons who are
academically strong and have shown exceptional qualities of leadership and
service, with a good track record not only on campus but also in a wider social
context and who are able to function as part of a select and highly skilled
group.
conditions
attached to the award:
1. Nominees shall be third year students and above or
members of staff of Junior Lecturer status.
2. Nominees must be of South African nationality and have a
valid South African passport.
3. Nominees must be aged 25 or less at the start of the
Tour. i.e. they must not have had their 26th birthday at the commencement of
the Tour. This age restriction can be departed from, at the discretion of the
Trustees, in the case of outstanding applicants.
4. Nominees shall confirm that they accept the Objectives of
the Travel Bursary.
5. The selection committee shall ensure that the application
of the selected nominee(s) is completed and will under go screening and
vetting.
6. Married persons may be nominated but only on the
understanding that if granted a Travel Bursary such Bursar shall not be
accompanied by his or her spouse.
7. Bursars must be sufficiently proficient in the English
language.
