The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music Proudly presents Keenan Ahrends Trio on Wednesday 26 February 2025 at 17:30.

 

After a successful tour in New York, Keenan Ahrends is set to tour South Africa in February. With his trio, his final stop is at the Centre for jazz and popular music UKZN, Durban. The performance features compositions from his debut album Narrative and his sophomore album Perseverance: live at the bird’s eye. He is supported by bassist Benjamin Jephta and drummer Sphelelo Mazibuko.

 

Ahrends is known for his evocative musical writing, his emotive improvisation and his sensitive musicianship. He is an important part of the emerging southern African jazz scene and his flagship sound can be heard on numerous albums and in a diverse array of projects. 

 

This concert is made possible through the support of Concerts SA, the Festival Enterprise Catalyst, SAMRO, the National Treasury Jobs Fund, and IKS Cultural Consulting.

Anybody can access the notice system, however you will not be able to place notices from off-campus.
