Celebrating the life of Philani Ngidi On Friday 8 November 2024, World Pianist Day at 18h00
On November 8, 2024, the world will celebrate the 10th World Pianist Day - a day dedicated to pianists, keyboardists, and everyone involved in playing keyboard instruments. This international celebration aims to recognise their talent and the profound impact their music has on people.
This year, pianists in Durban will come together in a concert to celebrate the life of, and pay tribute to bassist, Philani Ngidi. He was a central figure in the Durban music scene,.a consummate musician, bandleader, teacher and mentor to many of us. And a lovely human being. Please join Neil Gonsalves music and fellow pianists, Burton Curtis Naidoo, Bernard Nelson Nyondo, David Langley, Nhlakanipho Zulu, Ryan Joshua, Sbonelo Nxumalo, Shemual Mahabeer, Sibusiso Mash Mashiloane, Susan Barry and Zibusiso Makhathini at the Centre for Jazz and Popular m. All proceeds go to Philani's young family.
