The Exciting Return of Dr. JP McGee at the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music tonight.

The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music is thrilled to announce the return of acclaimed USA pianist, arranger, educator, vocalist, and scholar, Dr. JP McGee, on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 17:30.

Dr. JP returns to South Africa for both research and performance. He first graced our stage in February 2024, captivating a sold-out audience in Durban.

Dr. McGee holds a Doctorate of Ministry degree with a focus on Pastoral Care and Counseling from The Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, GA. His groundbreaking dissertation, A Sound for Distressed Souls: Gospejazzical as an NTU Approach for Coping with the Vocational Stressors of the Black Pastor, explores the healing potential of his innovative genre, Gospejazzical. This unique sound merges Gospel, Jazz, and Classical music to create a powerful fusion that entertains, uplifts, and inspires.
