Postdoctoral Position in Environmental Epidemiology

The Mother and Child in the Environment cohort (The MACE birth
cohort) is looking for a highly skilled postdoctoral candidate to join our
research project titled “The Adverse Effects Of
Ambient And Indoor Pollution On Childhood Respiratory Development”. We are
investigating whether environmental pollution and heat is associated with small
airways disease in childhood in a sample of children within the MACE
cohort. The 12 month post-doctoral position
is based in Durban, with the possibilities of renewal for a second year.
To be eligible to apply for this postdoctoral position candidates
are required to:

Hold a PhD in environmental epidemiology,
exposure science or clinical technical fields
·
Have data management and quantitative analytic
skills
·
Hold prior experience working on health
related research projects.
Candidates will be short-listed using the following criteria:
·
Depth and breadth of prior experience working on
health-related research projects.
·
The strength of two reference letters.
·
Strength of your academic writing ability.
·
Strength of your motivation.
·
Availability to travel within Durban, and work in the
selected communities
·
Work outside office hours in engaging with communities
and research participants
Advantages:
·
Fluency in isiZulu.
·
Previous health project experience working
with children and/or mothers.
·
Previous experience of working on environmental health
research.
·
Previous project management experience.
·
Previous experience or training in human rights and/or
community activism.
·
Valid driver’s license.
