Dear Staff and Students

You are invited to participate in a PhD research study titled Repositioning Entrepreneurship by Developing an Entrepreneurial Mindset of Graduates within Universities in South Africa.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDY?

The purpose of this research is to explore and gain a better understanding of the current state of entrepreneurship education in universities in South Africa. The focus of the study is on developing an entrepreneurial mindset among graduates. By analysing the perspectives and experiences of final-year students and the input of key stakeholders involved in curriculum development and policy-making, this research aims to identify the opportunities and challenges associated with fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among university graduates.

WHY AM I BEING INVITED TO PARTICIPATE?

Staff:

You have been invited to participate because of your pivotal role in curriculum development and/or policy-making at a public university. As such, your insights are invaluable to this research study. The success of the study depends on the participation of individuals who possess a deep understanding of the dynamics involved in shaping the educational landscape. Your selection is based on the recognition of your significant contributions to the field and the belief that your insights will greatly enrich the findings of the research.

Students:

You have been chosen as it is believed that you fulfil the following requirements;

  1. You are an undergraduate student at a public university in South Africa.
  2. You are in your final year of studies.
  3. You are studying towards a professional qualification in the following fields of study: Science, Engineering and Technology (SET), (Humanities (Hum) and Education.
  4. You can provide insights relating to your entrepreneurial mindset development.

WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM A PARTICIPANT?

Your role will be to participate in a face-to-face or online interview where you will be asked semi-structured questions, which will last approximately 20-45 minutes. Your participation will remain confidential.

HAS THE STUDY RECEIVED ETHICS APPROVAL?

This study has received written approval from the Research Ethics Review Committee with ethics number 2022_CEMS_DAM_011, and a Gatekeeper’s permission has been granted by the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN)

Will I still be able to read my Notices from within my email?

In a manner of speaking yes. However you will not get the entire notice delivered to you in your email, instead you will get a daily digest which will list the subject of the notices, a short summary of each notice and hyperlinks that will take you to that notice on the web.

Anybody can access the notice system, however you will not be able to place notices from off-campus.
