Dear Participant,

You are invited to participate in a research study conducted by Henricho Dixon, a Master of Commerce Candidate from the Department of Industrial Psychology at the University of the Western Cape.

The research project title is the role of organisational change and transformational leadership in psychological well-being among academic staff members in South Africa.

What is the study about?

The research study will investigate the role of organisational change and transformational leadership in psychological well-being among academic staff members in South Africa. This study is particularly interested in investigating the effects of organisational change in the psychological well-being of academics and to explore the role of transformational leadership during organisational change. Additionally, this study will focus on how transformational leaders are able to create mechanisms and strategies to promote and advance the psychological well-being of academics during organisational change.

The outcome of this study is to provide suitable recommendations to the leaders within higher education institutions to better manage the psychological well-being of their employees. Further to this, higher education institutions can use the findings to implement scientific and validated psychological interventions that were designed to foster a healthier workforce which could result in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) becoming more efficient and effective in its service delivery. Employees, specifically academics, could benefit from the findings of this study as it furthermore provides insight into how employee psychological well-being could be improved and the scientific psychological interventions that are at their disposal.
