SURVEY: THE DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF A PARTIAL GENERIC INDIVIDUAL NON-MANAGERIAL COMPETENCY MODEL
Print

Good day

My name is Dalin Adams and I am a master’s student at Stellenbosch University in the Department of Industrial Psychology. I am inviting you to participate in my research survey. The study seeks to understand why performance differs from employee to employee occupying non-managerial positions (administrative and support staff) in organisations. The survey will ask you to provide us with an assessment of how well you feel you do your job. The survey also looks at person characteristics that we feel are likely to affect employee performance. Some are likely to affect performance directly, while others work together with other characteristics to affect it indirectly. The long-term aim is to develop ways of improving performance by helping managers understand what areas are likely to improve performance and to provide a more accurate means of how it can be improved whether a person is employed or selected.

No personal information will be asked that can identify you as a respondent. The only time your name will be used is when the survey is distributed to your email. This will, however, be done by an authorised person within your organisation. The information you provide while completing the questionnaire will remain completely anonymous. Your individual responses to the questionnaire will not be shared with anybody in your organisation. I will only provide a copy of my thesis to your organisation in which the results of the statistical analysis that were performed on all the data obtained from all participants from all participating organisations will be reported.

If you participate in the research you will at the end of the questionnaire be asked whether you want to enter into a lucky draw for one of two R2 000-00 Takealot vouchers. If you decide you would like to take part in the lucky draw you will be taken to a second survey, totally independent of the first survey, where your phone number will be asked. The responses in the first questionnaire can therefore not be linked with the phone numbers in the second survey.

Your organisation gave permission that I may approach and invite you to participate in my study. This study has been ethically reviewed and approved by the Social, Behavioural and Education Research Ethics Committee (REC: SBE) at Stellenbosch University (approval number: IPSY-2023-28126).

For more information contact: 23405929@sun.ac.za

Your time and effort is greatly appreciated.

Yours sincerely

Dalin Adams
