CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

An external review of the emergency remote teaching, learning and assessment (ERTLA) during the COVID-19 pandemic implemented by UKZN from 15 March 2020 to 31 July 2021, will be conducted during the period December 2021 to April 2022.
The review will consist of two parts: Part I will take the form of an online Desktop Review. The review panel will critically review the documentation provided to ascertain if the requirements set out in the Quality Assurance Guidelines for Teaching, and Learning and Assessment during the COVID 19 Pandemic were met. The desktop report will provide baseline data regarding the academic and operational aspects of remote teaching, learning and assessment. Part II of the ERTLA review will comprise of virtual interviews with students and staff.
The review panel is required to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the University’s ERTLA activities against the CHE Guidelines specified in the Terms of Reference (listed below), identify areas of commendation and areas where focused attention is required in the form of recommendations. The review report is intended to guide the decision-making processes. Above all, the review provides an opportunity for reflection, for expressing views and making suggestions. The review report will be included in the Institutional Audit Self-Evaluation Report that will be submitted to the Council on Higher Education (CHE) in May 2022.
To assist the panel in this task, you are invited to forward a submission (not more than two pages), which outlines your concerns or comments on any of the areas listed in the Terms of Reference. The questions you should consider when writing your submission are: “What are the challenges from my perspective, and what is my suggested solution?” Or “What worked really well, and why?” It will be helpful for the panel if you are specific and concise. Your submission will be confidential. Should you have any other documentation such as statistics, reports, etc. which may be helpful to the panel in its deliberations please forward these as well.
