HEARD WRITING ARTICLES FOR SCIENTIFIC JOURNALS WORKSHOP

This online course aims to assist early career researchers with publishing their research. It is for any individual, irrespective of discipline, who has not yet published or has not been a lead author for an article, and who has a draft manuscript. The course is interactive. All participants receive a course pack of texts discussed during the course and other documents to assist with writing.  For each participant, the facilitator will provide written detailed comments on a revised article draft that he/she writes after completion of the seminars.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

 

1) To develop skills in formulating scientific arguments,

2) To understand the structure of scientific articles,

3) To develop skills in writing articles for specific journal readerships,

4) To understand the process of peer review and technical requirements of journals. 

 

FACILITATOR:

 

Professor Tim Quinlan

Professor Quinlan is a Social Anthropologist by training with extensive experience in student academic supervision, grant writing and research methods training. He has published widely in the academic literature.

MEDIUM: Online seminars via Zoom and individual mentoring via email.

LENGTH: Four days, 2x 2-hour seminars per day.

Will I still be able to read my Notices from within my email?

In a manner of speaking yes. However you will not get the entire notice delivered to you in your email, instead you will get a daily digest which will list the subject of the notices, a short summary of each notice and hyperlinks that will take you to that notice on the web.

2. Who has access to notices?


Anybody can access the notice system, however you will not be able to place notices from off-campus.
