This seminar is a focus on refugee experiences in South Africa with regards accessing housing. It will examine the rights and responsibilities that landlords and tenants hold in terms of the Rental Housing Act. The seminar will also offer insights on the role of the Rental Housing Tribunal in disputes between landlords and tenants.
Speaker Bio:
Daniel Byamungu Dunia is Secretary General of the Africa Solidarity Network (ASONET)which is a campaign promoting social cohesion with the aim of ending xenophobia and xenophobic attacks in South Africa. ASONET has held a number of community dialogues in the Durban area to facilitate discussion between South Africans and foreign nationals and to promote social cohesion. It is also actively involved in various challenges faced by foreign African nationals in South Africa. These include issues of documentation, health, housing and opportunities / challenges for entrepreneurship.
