African Music and Dance Lunch hour concerts at Howard College Theatre 12 and 14 March 2019
The school
of Arts performing Arts proudly presents the African Music and Dance third year
lunch hour concerts on Monday 12 March and Wednesday 14 March at Howard College
Theatre at 12:10.
It is of
great honour to introduce the UKZN African Music and Dance student's Lunch Hour
concert that will be held on the 12th of March 2018 at 12h10pm. The concert is
titled "Ingwe Idla Ngamabala", this is a Zulu idiom which means that
one gets lucky or successful through their charm and use their strengths as
their weapon. It is derived from a leopard who gets attention through her
colours. In this concert five students will be showcasing their skills and
talents through dance and music.(Khanyiso Dube, Yolokazi Maroyana, Sinethemba Saho,
Gugu Shange and Veracious Shazi)
The African
Music and Dance 3rd year students proudly presents “The Sounds of Afro-Beat”
Lunch hour concert in association with the UKZN School of Arts. The concert
will be based on the concept of preserving our African history, music and
heritage in the modern society of forever changing cultural practise.
Individually each student artist will perform a 10 minutes set consisting of
various African music, dance and instrumentals. The Sounds of Afro-Beat is made
possible through co-ordination and mentorship with Dr P Opondo. The concert
features the likes of Ayanda Mtshali, Sakhile Khumalo, Thabiso Cele,
Nkosinathini Mdluli & Philiswa Khubisa.
