The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music proudly presents the Beam brothers, on Tuesday 26 September 2017 at 18:00

Established over 60 years ago in Mpumalanga- Hammersdale, the outfit has been through a lot of changes owing to time and members coming and going but it's values, love for music and commitment to the craft has kept them going strong.

While their sound could be easily mistaken for Gospel music, the Durban based foursome is all about reflecting on the ins and outs of day to day life through their music which can be heard on their 15 track recording titled Thuli. The recording is made up a laid back mix of simple compositions and a nostalgic yet present sound. The Beam brothers were two time nominees in the 2015 SATMA awards.

Please join the evergreen sounds of beam brothers Malusi G Gwala, Sam Mqina, Michael Mkhize, Nkosinathi Lucky Gama (vocals) (vocals), backed Mthobisi Mthalane (piano), Mandla Mgabhi  (Percussion), Mandla Zikalalala (Bass), Philani Atlas Duma  (Drums) at The Centre for Jazz and Popular music (CJPM), Level 2, Shepstone Building at UKZN Howard College Campus on Tuesday 26 September 2017 at 18:00.
