Jokes and Jazz hosted by stand-up comedian Troy Tesla at Centre for Jazz and Popular Music, on Tuesday 28 March 2017 at 18:00.

 

"Jokes and Jazz” is a new comedy series designed to celebrate the merging of two art forms that are traditionally not known for conflating, comedy and jazz. The musical interlude will be provided by UKZN Music students.

 

The Centre for Jazz being KZN's home of regularly sold out jazz concerts with acclaimed local and international artists, decided to expand its audience by introducing a concept that’s guaranteed to deliver. Stand-up Comedy LIVE shall be hosted by on-demand international comedian Troy Tesla with a stellar line-up of comedians that include the well-loved comedian Masood Boomgaard who has just done his one-man show, Joker, at Sibaya Casino’s iZulu Theatre as well as Tyson Heffer and Kwanda Radebe

Bio:

Troy Tesla is a MC, stand-up comedian and sit-down law academic. He is known for veering all types of audiences into an absurd comfort of laughter with his mature & provocative satirical take on domestic and global issues. He has been described as "the next Trevor Noah" because he is half Zimbabwean & half South African.

Tesla has awed audiences with some of the biggest names in South Africa including John Vlismas, Marc Lottering, Loyiso Gola and is a five time opening act for Carvin H Goldstone's Best of Tour in 2016. He has appeared on popular platforms around the country including: Parkers Comedy & Jive, and the Durban Summer Comedy Festival which is due to be aired on Comedy Central.

In 2017 he collaborated & hosted several comedy series in association with international hotel chain Tsogo Sun. He has also MC'd and entertained private audiences as large as 2000.

Tesla is currently developing a TV Show.

 

Mo Vawda is a rocketing newcomer on the comedy scene. He is a UKZN PhD candidate, soon to be a doctor because laughter is the best medicine. Vawda brings a unique take on life and a passion for comedy which has propelled him to become one of the most sought after of the next generation of comedians. He is a proud South African and a proud Muslim, a perspective he deliver with high energy despite what Donald Trump says.

Vawda was the subject of an episode of Mela on SABC 3. He also stand up takes have been featured on Vuzu Amp and Mzansi Magic on DSTV.

He has performed with comedic greats like Carvin H. Goldstone, Joey Rasdein, John Vlismas, Darren Maule, Robbie Collins, Marc Lottering, Marc Banks, Loyiso Gola, MoMagic, Dusty Rich, Goliath and Goliath, Jem Atkins, Neville Pillay, Neil Green, Robbie Collins, the Dingalings, Masood Boomgard, Glen Beirderman-Pam and many, many other great artists.

In a manner of speaking yes. However you will not get the entire notice delivered to you in your email, instead you will get a daily digest which will list the subject of the notices, a short summary of each notice and hyperlinks that will take you to that notice on the web.

Anybody can access the notice system, however you will not be able to place notices from off-campus.
