The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music proudly presents the Khanya Jazz Project on Wednesday 22 March 2017 at 18:00.
The Khanya Jazz Project is an Afro Cuban poli-rhythmic jazz ensemble founded by PE born composer/arranger, Ricky Moss. Moss started out at the Academy of Jazz in New Brighton, PE where he worked with trumpeter Feya Faku and late Jazz saxophonist, Zim Nqwana.
The band will play a repertoire that includes re-arranged jazz standards, smooth, Afro Cuban/latin jazz and original Cape Jazz/Goema. Khanya Jazz Project endeavours to bring across spiritual energies within its original melodies & pulsating poli-rythms.
The band is influenced by the music of Jaco Pistorious, Stanley Clarke, Quincy Jones, George Duke, Michael Jackson, Miles Davis, and Richard Bona.
Join the Khanya Jazz Project Ricky Moss (acoustic guitar/bass guitar / lead vocals, Ryan Joshua (electric piano/synth), Shaun Peterson (drums), Lance Dyers (percussion/vocals), and Leon Scharneck (alto/tenor sax) at The Centre for Jazz & Popular Music (CJPM), Level 2 Shepstone Building at UKZN Howard College Campus, Durban on Wednesday 22 March 2017. Doors open 17:30 and the music starts at 18:00 Tickets will be available at the door for R70 // R45 pensioners // R20 students.
