RESIDENCE ASSISTANTS – 2017

Applications are invited
for one year performance based contract post of Residence Assistants in the Department
of Student Residence Affairs for 2017 Academic
year. NB: RAs who
have served for 2 years and more are NOT eligible to apply.
MINIMUM
REQUIREMENTS:
l Applicants must be UKZN students,
registered for their Post Graduate degree in 2016. This means you must have completed your undergraduate degree and be registered
for your Post Graduate degree this year.
l Applicants must not be employed full-time
on or off campus.
l Applicants must have resided in the
residence for the past 2 consecutive years (2015/2016).
l Applicants must disclose their internship
program or in-service training for 2017 which must be within the campus.
l
Applicants
must have traceable experience in holistic student development and voluntary
service to residence communities.
l
Applicants
must have demonstrated good behaviour and conduct in the residence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES WILL INCLUDE
l Provide assistance to Residence
Administrators with Admissions.
l Implement Residence Rules.
l Actively participate, initiate and
implement Residence Life Programs.
l Execute fire drills and emergency
evacuation procedures and provide assistance to students during medical
emergencies.
l Assist Residence Life Officers with
conducting House Committee Elections.
l Provide mentoring and supportive assistance
to residence students.
l Attend designated residence and liaison
departmental meetings.
l Successful incumbents will be required to
sign a performance contract, as part of the conditions of this post.
l Applicants
with previous and pending disciplinary records are not eligible to apply.
NB: ONLY STUDENTS FROM THE
PIETERMARITZBURG CAMPUS ARE ELIGIBLE
TO APPLY
REMUNERATION
PACKAGE
Successful candidates shall be offered a fixed monthly
meal allowance of R1500.00, plus partially furnished accommodation.
