Print

Dear Participant

The enablements and constraints in the uptake of educational technologies for teaching and learning in differentiated institutions

I would like to request your participation in this anonymous educational technologies survey. This research is being undertaken as part of an NRF funded project that looks at a variety of aspects of higher education within the context of institutional differentiation (NRF grant 87646). Ethical clearance for this research has been granted by Rhodes University (Clearance number: 2015.10.3).

The purpose of this survey is to share experiences on enablements and constraints in the uptake of Educational Technologies (EdTechs). In order to obtain a broader perspective of the extent and depth of the EdTech uptake, your participation in this study will be greatly appreciated. Your individual responses will be kept anonymous and confidential. All information will be consolidated to provide a holistic understanding of EdTech uptake in South African Higher Education.

Please note the following:
Your name is not required in this survey. All information that you will give is completely anonymous. You may stop participating and may choose to withdraw at any time without any negative consequences. Participation is entirely voluntary and without compensation. You will not be exposed to any threats or discomfort by participating in this study. Please complete all questions in the survey, which should take approximately 15 to 20 minutes of your time. At the end of the questionnaire, you will be asked if you are willing to participate in an interview. This again is voluntary. There will be no link between your email address and the answers provided in the questionnaire.

If you have any questions or comments regarding the survey or should there be system glitches while taking the survey, please do not hesitate to contact me, Ms Nomathemba Ngcobo on email: g15n4109@campus.ru.ac.za, Tel: +27 12 356 3076, Cell: (+27) 84 566 0025. You are also free to contact my supervisors with any questions or concerns, Prof S. McKenna (s.mckenna@ru.ac.za) and Dr M. Harran (marcelle.harran@nmmu.ac.za).
By completing the questionnaire, you indicate that you have read and understood the above and complete the survey voluntarily.
