IREX is now accepting applications for the 2016-2017 University Administration Support Program (UASP) – Cohort II.  UASP, which is administered by IREX with funding from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, provides fully funded fellowship and training opportunities at universities in the United States.

 This year, the program is focusing on developing research management capacity. They are seeking senior university managers (e.g. Pro-Vice Chancellor of Research, Director of Research etc.) and ministry officials with responsibility in this area to apply, applicants with a level of seniority that enables them to drive improvement and innovation in their institution.  The program has two main components: 

1.           Fellowships in Research Management:  four weeks collaborating with a research management counterpart at a US university, observing practice and building an Implementation Plan that will outline key aspects of the observed practice and its applicability to the home context. This is book-ended by three weeks of intensive training and facilitated reflection in Washington, DC.

2.           Grants and Post-Fellowship Engagement: fellows are eligible to compete for grants to support follow on activity, to attend relevant national and international conferences or to provide a research grant to a faculty member from their home institution.
