TECHNICIAN

THREE MONTHS FIXED TERM APPOINTMENT

(PEROMNES GRADE 10)

SCHOOL OF LIFE SCIENCES

WESTVILLE CAMPUS

The incumbent will attend to all aspects of teaching of undergraduate practicals in Microbiology, including laboratory maintenance, preparation of media and reagents, collection of specimens, laboratory safety and cleanliness, and demonstration during practicals  The incumbent should have a sound knowledge of the theory and practicals in Microbiology. S/he will be a part of a team of skilled technicians providing support in the operation, care and maintenance of sophisticated research and teaching instrumentation within the School. The incumbent will be expected to provide research support to postgraduate students and academics, and perform administrative functions and other duties as determined by management.

The incumbent will report to the Principal Technician.

Minimum Requirements:

·       A three year relevant degree in Biological Sciences field.

·       Three years relevant work experience, inclusive of experiential training gained during post graduate studies

 

Shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo a skills test.

The remuneration for this post is R12 250 per month.
