CLEANING AND CARTAGE STAFF ON STRIKE
To University Community
CMS Division would like to inform the University community on all campuses of the cleaning and cartage staff strike.
Cleaning Service Providers staff have embarked on a strike today (14 April) Please be advised that the contract cleaners will not be dressed in uniform but will be in possession of their staff cards. You may request to see their staff cards if you are in doubt or unable to identify the cleaners.
Prioritised cleaning will be carried out during the strike which will be lecture venues, toilets, replenishing of hygiene consumables in toilets and public areas.
Office moves, cartage, venue set up will be minimal, skeleton staff will carry out the cleaning. Only office bins will be cleared at this stage of the strike. We appeal to the University community and students to assist by discarding their litter/rubbish, toilet paper, etc. in the bins.
Please be advised that this situation will be closely monitored and introduction of night shift staff will be implemented when necessary.
Thank you
