CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: 2023 UNITED STATES-SOUTH-AFRICA RACIAL JUSTICE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME
The United
States-South Africa Racial Justice Fellowship programme, funded by the U.S.
government and hosted by the School of Education, University of KwaZulu-Natal
(UKZN) and Teachers College (TC), Columbia University, New York City, invites
interested masters and doctoral students to apply for a nine-month fellowship.
- The programme seeks
to drive and highlight productive ways of engaging with issues of race and
racial justice through higher education institutions in both countries.
- This program will
host 24 masters and doctoral students (12 from South Africa and 12 from
the United States).
- The programme
comprises 4 hours of online monthly engagements and a two-weeks in-person
exchange. The exchange will see fellows spending a week at UKZN in Durban,
South Africa and a week at TC in New York City, United States.
- Fellows will engage
through virtual monthly events, including forums for debate, knowledge
generation, and skills building.
- The intention is to
support and build a cross-national community of scholars engaged in
researching and addressing racial injustice in universities and society in
general.
