CLMS remote Student Support Services

Dear CLMS students,

The CLMS Student Support Service remains committed during this public health crisis to promote student success and well-being, by providing comprehensive and integrated telepsychology services.

Telepsychology includes online professional counseling, interactive group support and psycho-education.   The provision of mental health support (especially through telehealth) will help you maintain psychological well-being and cope with the adjustment to the changing context that this pandemic has brought about.

Please have a look at our CLMS website https://clmsstudentsupport.ukzn.ac.za  for resources that will assist you with coping.  You will find podcasts to help you relax, psycho-education on stress management and time management; and skills to manage yourself and your academics successfully.

You are able to access confidential online counselling with our professional and caring team of Student Counsellors, and careers related advice from our Career Development Officer.    Please find attached a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ’s) to provide you with greater clarity about our tele-psychology service.

We have also put together a schedule for interactive group sessions (see attachment).  These will begin with interactive Question and Answer sessions on stress management, time management, etc.   The group sessions will be streamlined to address your needs and challenges.   These sessions will be available in Isizulu and English.

NB. Please read through the FAQ’s (see attachment) to provide you with greater clarity on our Telepsychology service and to find out how to book for individual and group sessions.  Ms Nomathemba Makhathini can be emailed at MakhathiniN@ukzn.ac.za to enquire further about bookings.  Please ensure that you fulfill the requirements to proceed with bookings. This will include completing the informed consent and intake form and returning it to your Counsellor.

“We don’t have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to!” Brene Brown
