AHRI Social Sciences Masters

Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI)
is a leading South African medical
research organization on the east coast of South Africa. We have three
campuses in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.
The Durban research campus with the administrative headquarters and an
advanced laboratory complex is on the Nelson R Mandela Medical grounds of the
University of KwaZulu-Natal. 200km North
of Durban we have our Mtubatuba residential campus which has 20 flats and rooms
for visiting researchers and support staff and our Somkhele Research Campus
where most of our clinical and population health research is conducted in
collaboration with the Department of Health and other national and international
research bodies.
AHRI’s principal funding comes
from the Howard Hughes Medical Research Institute and the Wellcome Trust. AHRI
is one of several Wellcome Programmes in Africa and Asia. In addition to these two principal funders we
have many AHRI scientist-led research grants from major funders of research
such as the Gates Foundation, NIH, MRC (UK), MRC (SA), Max Planck Institute and
others. Our academic partners are the
