Dear Student
I am a PhD student at the College of Humanities, School of Applied Human Sciences at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. You are invited to participate in a research project entitled: The perceived impact of crime on students at institutions of higher learning: a case study at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). The aim of this study is to get a holistic understanding of how crime affects students and how South African universities can rise to the challenge of redressing the gaps in safety and security, as a contributing factor to academic performance. In order to get a clear understanding of your experience, your sincere responses to the questions are appreciated
Your participation in this project is voluntary. You may refuse to participate or withdraw from the project at any time with no negative consequence. There will be no monetary gain from participating in this survey/focus group. Confidentiality and anonymity of records identifying you as a participant will be maintained by the College of Humanities.
If you have any questions or concerns about completing the questionnaire or about participating in this study, you may contact me or my supervisor at the numbers listed above.
The questionnaire should take you about 8 minutes to complete. I hope you will share your experience as a student.
