Date: Wednesday 25 November 2015
Time: 12:30-14:00 (NOTE THIS IS THE REGULAR SEMINAR TIME)
Venue: CCS Seminar Room 602, 6th Floor, MTB Tower, Howard College, University of KwaZulu-Natal

Topic:

Sam Moyo was honorary professor at UKZN's Centre for Civil Society until his death in an auto accident on November 21. He was amongst Zimbabwe's most respected scholar-activists, with an exceptional record of theorising, research, publishing, teaching, advocacy and activism. He served several educational institutions in Africa, including the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa, of which he was president from 2008-11. No one has published more rigorous analysis of the Zimbabwe land struggle. Few cared so generously and so equally for their PhD students and their peasant allies alike. In this first recollection of his time with us, CCS will remember Sam through some of his publications, debates and on-line lectures.
