All Welcome at the Bioblitz with CREW on Pmb campus, 27 Sept @ 9 am.

Explore the Pmb campus during a Bioblitz with Suvarna Parbhoo of CREW (Custodians of Rare & Endangered Wildflowers), supported by staff from the School of Life Sciences and the KZN Inland branch of Botanical Society of SA.

Saturday 27 September 2014 @ 9.00 am

Venue: The natural grassland (‘Paddock’) between Denison Residence and John Bews buildings on Carbis Rd campus of UKZN, Pietermaritzburg.

Aims: To introduce keen students, staff, and members of the public to the CREW programme by running a Bioblitz (biodiversity inventory) on this very special grassland on campus. All UKZN campuses are registered Conservancies; this is a wonderful opportunity for you to learn more about the species that share our campus.

During a Bioblitz one takes digital photos of the plants, animals, birds and insects and then upload them to SANBI’s iSpot web site. Here experts will help to identify them, so you do not need to be an expert to participate – you just have to be keen. Some equipment will be provided, but please bring your own digital camera if you have one. Also wear comfortable shoes and clothing, a hat for the sun, and bring something to drink.
