DISCIPLINE OF FRENCH STUDIES
The French Programme at the University of KwaZulu-Natal is positioning itself as a major South African centre for quality research and training in French with special reference of teaching French in an African context. We invite applications for tutors who will run tutorials for students at first- and second-year level registered at Pietermaritzburg campus. The tutorials will take place in person. Tutorials will begin 3 August 2026. The successful applicant must be registered (or must be intending to register) for an Honours degree, a Master’s degree or a PhD in French in 2026.
Requirements:
- B1 level French
- Registered (or intending to register) for Honours, MA or PhD in French in 2026
- Access to a reliable Internet connection
- Good interpersonal skills
- Dependable
- Available to tutor on Monday and Tuesday afternoons from 3 August 2026 – 27 October 2026.
Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be considered.
Applicants are required to send a CV, a brief e-mail motivating why they would be a good candidate as a French tutor and a completed tutor application form to the French 102 co-ordinator Dr Alexandra Stewart stewarta@ukzn.ac.za.
