The Discipline of Chemical Engineering has the following fixed term vacancy in order to meet its teaching and learning needs in the 2nd semester of 2026.
Lecturer in ENCH4DP Design project
The incumbent will supervise and assess both individual and group components of an integrated chemical engineering design project within the ENCH4DP module. Responsibilities include delivering lectures in reactor engineering and associated process design topics, and supporting students in the development of reactor design components for their process design projects in accordance with the College handbook.
The individual component focuses on reactor design, including reactor selection, sizing, modelling, simulation, optimisation, and process integration. The group component includes control and instrumentation design, project management, safety, health and environmental (SHE) considerations, start-up and shutdown procedures, turndown analysis, P&ID and plant layout development, and HAZOP studies.
S/he will provide technical guidance on simulation, safety, and integrated process design, assess and mark design submissions, and facilitate the application of professional engineering practices, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and student engagement skills are required.
The incumbent will report to the Head of Discipline: Chemical Engineering
Minimum Requirements
· BSc degree in Chemical Engineering.
· MSc in Chemical Engineering or related field.
· Registered as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng).
· Minimum of 5 years relevant industrial and/or academic experience in process design.
The remuneration will be at the University standard rates of pay.
