The Discipline of Mechanical Engineering within the School has the above-mentioned fixed-term vacancy to meet its teaching and learning needs in the 2nd semester of 2026 in the following areas: Design (ENME1ED and ENME2DM). The incumbent will be required to lecture on two courses, set tests and exams, as per the 2026 handbook, and administer the courses with assistance from a Head of Discipline, or may be asked to assist with the role or course coordination within the discipline.
S/he will be expected to deliver and conduct tutorials and practicals as required with assistance from teaching assistants and postgraduate students, make all module learning material available online through the UKZN Moodle platform, Learn 2026 and maintain the online content throughout the semester to affect learning. Respond to student queries, provide academic guidance, and maintain contact with students through Moodle, Learn 2026, email, and face-to-face meetings. Conduct assessments, including marking of scripts and administration of results.
The incumbent will report to the Head of Discipline of Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum Requirements:
• BSc Eng degree in Mechanical Engineering
• MSc Eng in Mechanical Engineering
• Relevant teaching experience at the tertiary level
The remuneration will be at the University's standard rates of pay.
