The sub-discipline of Media and Cultural Studies (MESC) in the Discipline of Media, Cultural Studies and Fine Arts in the School of Arts has a vacancy for a lecturer specializing in the area of Media and Cultural studies at postgraduate level.

 

The incumbent will be expected to contribute to Research Methodology from a cultural and media studies perspective and/or Health Communication.   S/he will be teaching across one of the three research tracks: Cultural studies, Media studies and/or Health Communication. The incumbent will participate in the weekly colloquium, including the role of review for student proposal.  She/he will contribute to general discipline administration.

 

The incumbent will report to Academic Leader: Prof Michelle Stewart

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Master’s degree in Media and Cultural studies with specialization in Cultural studies
  • Experience in teaching undergraduate or postgraduate classes at a tertiary institution.
  • Evidence of supervision of research projects/topics at the Honours level.

REMUNERATION: The remuneration offered will be in accordance with UKZN fixed-term rates of pay.
