The Research Centre for Plant Growth and Development is associated with the School of Agriculture and Science at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. A major function and aim of the Research Centre is to foster high quality research and excellence in Plant Physiology, Stress Physiology, Seed Germination, Ethnobotany, Plant Biotechnology and Tissue Culture.

 

The Research Centre has 2 MSc bursaries available for students to conduct research within these research areas. The recipients of the bursary will be supervised by Professor Johannes van Staden (Director of RCPGD) and co-supervised by Members of the Research Centre.

 

Minimum Requirement:

A BSc Hons in Botany, Plant Science or equivalent.

 

The value of each MSc bursary is R100 000.00 per year for two years provided sufficient progress is made in the first year of study. Persons that already have bursaries from other donors do not qualify. Students who will be permanently based on the Pietermaritzburg Campus will be given priority.
