Applicants are invited to apply for the position of a lecturer in Music Theory, in the School of Arts at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Music has established a reputation for innovative teaching and research. The successful applicant should have experience in the following areas: Western Classical Music Theory Teaching; setting appropriate assessment tasks; and the NQF Level Descriptors (especially Level 7). The applicant should have the potential to teach music analysis at 2^nd and 3^rd year level, with an emphasis on using Western theoretical concepts but using local musical examples (e.g. Mascandi, Isichathamiya, Itende, etc.); and assume relevant administrative duties in the programme.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

·       A Master’s degree in music or education;

·       Evidence of tertiary teaching experience in music theory at any level.

REMUNERATION: The remuneration offered will be in accordance with UKZN fixed-term rates of pay.
